Its Rhode Island Energy subsidiary is the main electric and gas delivery utility in Rhode Island, putting it in the same ISO New England delivery business and the same regional transmission build-out as Eversource.
A Northeast regulated electric and gas delivery utility of comparable scale, competing with Eversource for the same regional transmission projects and for the capital that funds them.
Through United Illuminating and its Connecticut gas utilities it delivers electricity and gas in the same Connecticut towns and New England states as Eversource, and the two bid against each other for regional transmission projects and rate-base growth before the same regulators.
Its US arm delivers electricity and gas to Massachusetts customers next door to Eversource's territory and is the largest gas distributor in the Northeast, competing for the same New England delivery customers and transmission investment.
A smaller regulated electric and gas distributor serving New Hampshire and Massachusetts communities adjacent to Eversource's, competing for the same residential and commercial delivery customers and the same state rate cases.

- 2/23/2026NEUTRALEversource Raises $1.5 Billion From Its First Hybrid Bonds
Eversource Energy has successfully raised $1.5 billion through its inaugural hybrid bond issuance. The New England-based utility operator will use the proceeds to refinance existing debt, a strategic move aimed at optimizing its capital structure. The issuance of these instruments, which possess characteristics of both debt and equity, demonstrates the company's ability to tap into sophisticated and diversified financing channels. For investors, this action signals proactive financial management. While it doesn't directly affect daily operations, its impact on the balance sheet's strength and future interest expenses will be closely watched. Currently, the market views this as a standard financial maneuver rather than a short-term value catalyst.
