TJX gestisce catene retail off-price — T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, Winners, TK Maxx e altre — che vendono abbigliamento, articoli per la casa e accessori di marca dal 20% al 60% sotto il prezzo di vendita al dettaglio ordinario. Acquista la merce in modo opportunistico da produttori con scorte in eccesso, ordini cancellati o eccedenze produttive, invece di commissionare merce su misura, e la fa girare rapidamente in migliaia di negozi negli Stati Uniti, Canada ed Europa.

Come guadagna

I ricavi arrivano dalla vendita di merce in cassa, con la redditività che dipende meno dal margine su un singolo articolo e più dal comprare merce a forte sconto e farla girare abbastanza in fretta da lasciare raramente scorte ferme o bisognose di ribassi.
