Through its Maquet Cardiopulmonary unit, Getinge sells the heart-lung machines, oxygenators and ECMO circuits that LivaNova's Cardiopulmonary segment sells to the same hospital perfusion and cardiac-surgery departments worldwide.
Terumo's cardiovascular business supplies oxygenators, perfusion systems and disposables for open-heart surgery, overlapping directly with LivaNova's largest revenue line and competing for the same hospital tenders.
Medtronic competes on both of LivaNova's fronts — cardiopulmonary bypass equipment and disposables for cardiac surgery, and implantable neurostimulators used in drug-resistant epilepsy and difficult-to-treat neurological conditions.
NeuroPace's RNS responsive neurostimulation system targets the same drug-resistant focal epilepsy patients, and the same implanting epilepsy centres, that LivaNova's VNS Therapy depends on.
Haemonetics competes in the surgical blood-management products used in the same cardiac operating room, where LivaNova sells autotransfusion and blood-handling systems alongside its bypass equipment.
This privately held UK manufacturer sells perfusion monitoring and extracorporeal circuit systems to the same cardiac surgery units, and is named by LivaNova itself among its principal competitors.
