The closest match to Nucor's model: a US electric-arc-furnace mini-mill group selling sheet, structural, bar and fabricated steel to the same construction, automotive and industrial buyers.
The largest North American producer of flat-rolled steel, competing head-on with Nucor's sheet mills for automotive and appliance contracts, though from integrated blast furnaces rather than scrap.
Competes directly in rebar, merchant bar and downstream fabrication for US construction sites, the market where Nucor's steel products segment earns much of its revenue.
A long-standing rival for the same US sheet, plate and tubular customers, now operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Steel after its 2025 delisting.
The largest steelmaker outside China supplies the US market through its Calvert joint venture and exports, competing with Nucor on flat-rolled and plate volumes.
Its North American long-steel mills sell rebar, merchant bar and structural sections into the same US construction distribution channels Nucor serves.
