Microsoft meets Oracle head-on in every one of its markets at once: SQL Server and Azure SQL against Oracle Database, Azure against Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Dynamics 365 against Oracle's ERP and HCM applications.
Through AWS, Amazon is the largest seller of the cloud computing capacity Oracle's OCI sells, and its managed databases (Aurora, RDS, Redshift) are the main destination for companies migrating off Oracle Database.
SAP is Oracle's historic rival for the enterprise applications budget, selling the same large organisations the ERP, finance and supply-chain software that Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications competes for.
Google Cloud bids against OCI for the same infrastructure and AI-training workloads, and its BigQuery and Spanner databases target the same enterprise data estates.
IBM sells the same large enterprises a competing database (Db2), hybrid-cloud platforms and the systems-integration services that overlap with Oracle's own services segment.
Salesforce competes for the same subscription spending on customer-facing cloud applications, directly against Oracle's CX, marketing and, through its acquisitions, human-resources and analytics suites.

- 2d agoPOSITIVEGood news for OpenAI is great news for Oracle’s stock — here’s why
Oracle's stock is experiencing a surge in investor optimism, directly linked to OpenAI's proximity to a significant revenue milestone. While the specific figures for OpenAI's revenue are not detailed, the market's positive reaction suggests a substantial achievement that is expected to translate into increased demand for Oracle's cloud infrastructure and services, which are crucial for AI development. This news highlights the symbiotic relationship between AI innovation and the underlying technology providers, potentially leading to upward revisions in Oracle's earnings forecasts and increased analyst price targets.
- 2d agoPOSITIVEOracle Connects Bank Payment Systems To Swift’s Blockchain Ledger
Oracle has announced a significant integration of its banking and blockchain infrastructure with Swift's shared ledger, enabling tokenized deposits. This collaboration allows banks to connect their tokenized-deposit systems directly to cross-bank payment flows, maintaining full control over their underlying assets. Oracle Banking Payments will facilitate the seamless connection of these digital-asset flows with existing ISO 20022 processing standards. The move is expected to streamline interbank transactions and foster greater adoption of tokenized assets in the financial sector, potentially enhancing Oracle's position in the financial technology space.
- 3d agoNEGATIVEPerché le azioni Oracle scendono del 2% oggi?
Oracle shares fell over 2% as investors grappled with broader market pressures from rising oil prices and Treasury yields, alongside concerns about the company's AI infrastructure spending. Credit markets also showed stress around Oracle's Project Jupiter data center loans in New Mexico, with debt trading at stressed levels post-S&P downgrade. Further pressure stemmed from Alphabet's Mandiant reporting renewed exploitation of a vulnerability in Oracle's PeopleSoft software. These combined factors suggest a challenging outlook for Oracle, impacting investor sentiment and share price.
- 5d agoNEGATIVEOracle gave Larry Ellison and his co-CEOs nearly $1 billion in stock options. By fiscal year end, all were underwater
Oracle's co-CEOs, including founder Larry Ellison, were granted nearly $1 billion in stock options. However, by the end of the fiscal year, these options were underwater, meaning their strike price exceeded the stock's market value. This indicates a significant underperformance of Oracle's stock relative to the options' grant value. While new CFO Hilary Maxson managed to benefit from restricted stock units, the executive compensation structure for the top leadership highlights a disconnect between awarded potential and actual shareholder value realization for the period.
- 6d agoNEUTRALEllison Pledges $9.2 Billion More in Oracle Shares as Collateral
Larry Ellison, Oracle's co-founder and CTO, has pledged an additional 67 million Oracle Corp. shares as collateral for personal loans, a notable increase from the previous year. This move, while potentially raising concerns about insider selling or liquidity needs, is a personal financial maneuver by a major shareholder and does not directly reflect the company's operational performance or future prospects. Investors should monitor the company's fundamentals rather than this specific collateralization event.
- 6d agoNEGATIVEOracle Notice to Weigh on Data Center Debt, Morgan Stanley Says
Morgan Stanley analysts highlight that Oracle's force majeure notice concerning a major New Mexico data center development introduces significant risk to loan and lease agreements. This event is expected to intensify scrutiny on debt financing for AI infrastructure projects, potentially increasing borrowing costs and reducing access to capital for similar ventures. Investors in Oracle and related data center developers should monitor the situation closely, as it could impact future project viability and profitability.
- 6d agoNEGATIVEOracle lancia diffida di "forza maggiore" per progetto data center New Mexico
Oracle has issued a force majeure notice for a data center project in New Mexico, citing rising costs as the reason. This move aims to protect the company from potential financial liabilities due to unexpected cost escalations. While the specific project details and the full extent of the cost increase are not disclosed, such a declaration typically signals significant challenges in project execution and budget management. Investors will be monitoring Oracle's ability to navigate these cost pressures and their impact on future profitability and capital expenditure plans.
- 6d agoNEUTRALOracle Japan +8%, madre USA in calo: perché gli investitori la vedono diversamente
Oracle Japan experienced an 8% surge on Friday following record Q1 revenues and profits, with its cloud revenue climbing 31.7% and operating profit up 22.7%. However, its US parent, Oracle Corp, saw a 3.47% decline in New York trading due to renewed concerns over 'Project Jupiter,' impacting execution and funding doubts. This divergence highlights differing investor sentiment towards the Japanese subsidiary's cloud growth versus the parent company's broader strategic execution challenges.
