The other large pure-play US Gulf Coast LNG exporter, competing with Cheniere for the same long-term liquefaction contracts with European and Asian buyers and for spot cargoes out of Louisiana.
Through Sempra Infrastructure it runs and is building LNG export terminals on the Gulf Coast and in Mexico (Cameron, Port Arthur, Costa Azul) that sell liquefaction capacity to the same international buyers Cheniere courts.
The state-owned Qatari producer is the world's other dominant LNG supplier and bids against Cheniere for the same 15-to-20-year supply agreements with utilities and importers in Asia and Europe.
A privately held Texas liquefaction terminal that sells the same tolling and offtake capacity to global traders and Asian utilities, drawing on the same US pipeline gas supply.
Its Rio Grande LNG project in south Texas is chasing the same long-term sales agreements with European and Asian offtakers that Cheniere needs to fill its own expansion trains.
Its Lake Charles LNG export project competes head-on with Cheniere for Gulf Coast liquefaction offtake contracts, and the two also compete to move the same Permian and Haynesville gas to the coast.
