Ford's closest rival in its home market, selling Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac vehicles to the same American buyers and fighting head-on in full-size pickups, where the Silverado and Sierra together outsell the F-Series.
It is the benchmark rival for Ford Model E, competing for the same North American and European electric-vehicle buyers with the Model Y and Model 3 against the Mustang Mach-E and with the Cybertruck against the F-150 Lightning.
Ford's main adversary in Europe, where the two dispute the same mass-market car buyers and the same commercial-van fleets — a rivalry so direct that they share platforms for some models while continuing to sell against each other.
Through Ram, Jeep and Chrysler it competes for the same North American truck and SUV customers, and through Peugeot, Citroën, Opel and Fiat Professional it disputes the European car and commercial-van business that Ford Pro depends on.
The largest foreign brand in the United States, it takes the same mainstream buyers with the RAV4, Highlander and Camry and attacks Ford's pickup business directly with the Tacoma and Tundra.
With the Hyundai and Kia brands it targets the same value-conscious American and European buyers of compact and mid-size SUVs, the segment where Ford's Escape and Explorer earn their volume.
