Mondelez competes with Hershey across chocolate (Cadbury, Milka, Toblerone) and snacking more broadly, selling to the same grocery and convenience retailers.
Through Frito-Lay, PepsiCo dominates the salty snack aisle where Hershey's SkinnyPop, Dot's Pretzels and Pirate's Booty compete for the same snacking occasion.
Mars is the largest chocolate and candy maker in the United States, and its M&M's, Snickers and Skittles sit on the same checkout shelves as Hershey's, Reese's and Jolly Rancher.
Ferrero owns Nutella, Kinder, Butterfinger and the former Nestlé US candy brands, putting it head to head with Hershey in American chocolate and seasonal confectionery.
Lindt competes for the same chocolate buyer from the premium end, with Lindor and Ghirardelli taking shelf space and gifting occasions from Hershey's brands.
Nestlé remains a global confectionery rival with KitKat (which Hershey licenses only for the United States), Aero and Smarties in the international markets Hershey is trying to grow.
