Through Aetna it is the third-largest Medicare Advantage insurer and also sells Medicare drug plans, Medicaid managed care and commercial coverage to the same customers Humana serves.

Humana Inc. is experiencing a significant downturn as the health insurance provider maintained its annual profit guidance despite a robust second quarter performance. While the company delivered strong operational results for the period, the decision to keep the full-year outlook unchanged suggests potential headwinds or conservatism that has unnerved investors. This lack of upward revision, even with a positive quarterly showing, signals a cautious stance that could impact future revenue streams and profitability, leading to a sell-off in its shares.
