India Lifts Ban on JPMorgan Unit in Index Manipulation Charge

India has lifted a trading ban on a unit of JPMorgan Chase & Co., which was previously under investigation for alleged index manipulation. The ban was rescinded after the unit deposited 29.6 million rupees ($311,230) into a designated bank account, satisfying a directive from India's market regulator. This resolution removes a significant operational hurdle for the financial giant in the Indian market, allowing its unit to resume normal trading activities. Investors may view this as a positive development, indicating a de-escalation of regulatory pressure and a return to standard business operations for JPMorgan in India.
