Bank of Hawai'i is First Hawaiian's mirror image in the same state, competing branch by branch for Hawaii retail deposits, consumer and commercial loans and trust business, with the two banks each holding roughly a third of all deposits in the islands.
Central Pacific Bank serves the same Hawaii households and small and mid-sized island businesses from a statewide branch network, and is the leading SBA lender in the state, competing directly with First Hawaiian for small business credit.
American Savings Bank is the third-largest deposit taker in Hawaii and competes with First Hawaiian for the same island retail deposits, mortgages and consumer loans; it is a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Industries rather than a separately listed company.
Since acquiring Territorial Bancorp in April 2025, Hope Bancorp runs the Territorial Savings branches in Hawaii and competes with First Hawaiian for island deposits and residential mortgages.
Bank of Guam competes head-on with First Hawaiian's branches in Guam and Saipan for the deposits and loans of Western Pacific consumers, businesses and government bodies.
