The closest rival across every Bank of America business at once: a nationwide branch and credit-card franchise for US households, plus corporate lending, M&A advisory and trading for the same large corporate and institutional clients.
Competes for the same US retail and small-business deposits, mortgages and card balances through a branch network of comparable national reach, and increasingly for the same middle-market corporate clients.
Overlaps in credit cards for US consumers and, above all, in treasury services, corporate lending and markets for multinational clients that both banks serve across many countries.
Direct rival of Merrill and the Private Bank for wealthy US households' assets under management, and of BofA Securities in equity underwriting and institutional trading.
Competes for the same M&A and capital-markets mandates and the same institutional trading flow, where it and BofA Securities sit in the same handful of firms invited to the largest deals.
Fights for the same mainstream US deposit, payments and small-business relationships in the states where their branch networks overlap, at a smaller scale but with the same product set.

- 12h agoNEUTRALAI in regulated industries: BofA and S&P on the huge gains to be had, and the risks of rushing in
At Fortune's AIQ Summit, Bank of America's Hari Gopalkrishnan cautioned that companies are adopting AI prematurely, highlighting potential risks. S&P Global's Sally Moore emphasized that the core challenge lies in business reinvention rather than just AI implementation. This dual perspective suggests a cautious approach to AI adoption in regulated sectors, where the focus should be on strategic integration and risk management, rather than rapid deployment. Investors should monitor how these financial institutions navigate AI implementation to balance innovation with regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
- 3d agoPOSITIVEBank of America, Bradesco Test Instant Cross-Border Payments
Bank of America has successfully conducted its first real-time, cross-border payment initiated by Bradesco, a major Brazilian bank, at the Sibos 2026 conference. This successful test signifies a significant advancement in facilitating instant international transactions, potentially reducing settlement times and costs for businesses and individuals. The collaboration highlights a growing trend towards digital transformation in global finance, aiming to streamline the complexities of cross-border remittances and payments. For investors, this development could signal improved operational efficiency and new revenue streams for participating financial institutions.
- 17d agoNEGATIVEPerché oggi le azioni di Bank of America scendono
Bank of America shares experienced a decline in early trading following disappointing guidance for the fiscal third quarter. CEO Brian Moynihan indicated at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference that investment banking fees and trading revenues are expected to be significantly lower than the strong growth observed earlier in the year. While the stock had seen a slight uptick recently, it remains down approximately 8% from its recent peak. This downward revision, particularly in key revenue-generating segments, is the primary driver behind the current sell-off, signaling potential headwinds for the financial giant.
- 18d agoNEUTRALMoynihan Says Bank Is Still Strong, Even If Trading Revenue Comes In Flat
Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan indicated that the bank's trading revenue for the third quarter is expected to be "relatively flat" compared to the previous year. Despite this projection, Moynihan emphasized that the bank is still poised to achieve one of its strongest third quarters historically. This suggests a resilient underlying business performance, even with a potential plateau in a key revenue stream. Investors should monitor the bank's overall profitability and asset quality metrics, as the flat trading revenue might be offset by strength in other business segments.
- 22d agoNEUTRALHistory shows the bar to disrupt AI is surprisingly high, says Bank of America
Bank of America analysts suggest that the historical difficulty in disrupting the AI sector is higher than commonly perceived. They also posit that equity markets possess a greater resilience to bond market shocks than currently observed, with market volatility potentially serving as a more accurate indicator of risk than Treasury yields. This perspective implies that despite potential bond market turbulence, the AI landscape's inherent barriers to entry may provide a stable environment for established players, while investors should monitor volatility closely for risk signals.
- 8/28/2026POSITIVEHow Bank of America and three other lenders could win big from Scott Bessent’s and Kevin Warsh’s bond-market mechanations
Bank of America, along with three other unnamed lenders, is poised to benefit from potential bond market strategies orchestrated by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, according to Citrini Research. The coordinated actions aim to reduce long-term bond yields. This scenario suggests a favorable environment for financial institutions that hold significant bond portfolios, as lower yields can lead to capital appreciation on existing holdings and potentially stimulate borrowing and investment activities, thereby boosting Bank of America's net interest income and overall profitability.
- 8/21/2026NEGATIVESEC Accuses Ex-BofA Senior Banker Satsky of Insider Trading
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has accused former Bank of America senior investment banker Jason Satsky of providing an insider-trading tip. The tip allegedly allowed a friend to illicitly profit $18.5 million. This development casts a shadow over Bank of America's compliance and ethical oversight, potentially impacting investor confidence and regulatory scrutiny. While the direct financial impact on the bank may be limited, such allegations can lead to reputational damage and increased compliance costs.
- 8/15/2026NEUTRALBerkshire pads Delta, Alphabet stakes as Abel taps cash pile
Berkshire Hathaway has reduced its holdings in Bank of America Corp., now owning 6.8% of the US lender's shares. This move comes as Berkshire's Vice Chairman, Greg Abel, has been utilizing the conglomerate's substantial cash reserves. While Berkshire's overall strategy might involve reallocating capital, the specific reduction in Bank of America does not inherently signal a negative outlook on the bank itself, but rather a portfolio adjustment within Berkshire's broader investment strategy. Investors will monitor future capital deployment by Berkshire.
- 8/12/2026POSITIVEBofA to plow $250 billion into critical infrastructure projects
Bank of America has announced a significant commitment of $250 billion towards critical infrastructure projects, with a strategic focus on advancing artificial intelligence, modernizing transportation networks, and upgrading water systems. This substantial investment underscores the bank's confidence in the long-term growth potential of these sectors and its role in facilitating national development. For investors, this initiative signals a robust pipeline of future business and potential for increased profitability, reinforcing Bank of America's position as a key player in financing essential economic advancements.
- 7/15/2026POSITIVEBank of America’s AI bet is starting to pay off, its CFO says
Bank of America's Chief Financial Officer, Alastair Borthwick, has indicated that the company's strategic investments in Artificial Intelligence are beginning to yield tangible results. Beyond mere cost reduction, AI implementation is demonstrably improving the bank's efficiency ratio and overall returns. This suggests that AI is not just a tool for streamlining operations but a genuine driver of enhanced financial performance. For investors, this news signals that BofA's technological advancements are translating into improved profitability and a stronger competitive position in the financial sector.
